TaiChi Treasures Yu-Ling Chen TaiChi, a precious treasure of Chinese culture, is a popular exercise that has traveled through space and time. It integrates psychology, physiology, medical science, aesthetics, and arts. Practicing TaiChi not only enhances personal health and self-defense skills, but it also strengthens the practice of mindfulness and enhances the development of wisdom. TaiChi can be practiced anywhere and anytime. No special equipment is needed; people of both genders and all ages can practice. TaiChi helps the body relax completely. It massages all the joints through steady movements and revives all the cells by improving blood circulation. It is an activity that best suites modern society. In this workshop, we will introduce some basic TaiChi steps. We will practice these basic steps together during the workshop. We hope the participants will come away from the workshop feeling that they have learned the spirit of TaiChi and can continue to do the exercise and benefit from it in their daily lives. |
