Sandy Boucher Sandy Boucher lives in Oakland, California, and has been active in the exploration of women’s participation in Buddhism in the West for 25 years. In the late 1980s, she co-organized several national conference on women and Buddhism. She has spent time in Buddhist institutions in Southeast Asia, including a short period in robes in the Theravada tradition with Venerable Ayya Khema in Sri Lanka. She is a recipient of an Outstanding Women in Buddhism award for 2006. Her books include Turning the Wheel: American Women Creating the New Buddhism, Discovering Kwan Yin: Buddhist Goddess of Compassion, Hidden Spring: A Buddhist Woman Confronts Cancer, Opening the Lotus, A Woman’s Guide to Buddhism and Dancing in the Dharma: The Life and Teachings of Ruth Denison.
